Photographic material: films & processing

Films

I have used so many films' brands during my life that I cannot remember all of them. My preference was however for Fujifilm and Ilford. I well remember the Agfa products (still have some 135 BW rolls somewhere).

Many films are expired. Some of them are still quite usable, Agfa in particular. The 127 Efke films were well stored but did not keep weel as I expected.

I now mostly shoot on FOMAPAN for costs reasons and I find the results pretty satisfying whilst ADOX is my preferred medium for 4x5 film sheets.

Instant

I was (and I am) an instant photo enthusiast and I am quite happy about the resurgence of this medium, although costs are quite high. In the past I always hurried myself in stock piling as soon as a film was discontinued. I ended up with a lot of almost unusable polaroid film packs (SX70, SPECTRA and so on).

These are hardly usable now ...
Fuji seems to last longer than   Polaroid

Chemicals

With regard to chemicals, I was an Ilford Ilfosol addicted but later switched to ADOX and currently playing with Pyro developer (that I love for the grainless appearance of the developed negatives.

Development tools

I use classical tank development for bw and my Durst Filmetta processor for C41 and E3 (3 baths).

Here my Durst Filmetta in action (link to a video of the Filmetta in action, also known as TETENAL COLORTEC)

Bulk film loader

As the intention of this site is to show my photographic experiments with many 135 camera I own, shooting full rolls could take ages if you pretend to take acceptable pictures of non trivial subjects.

For this reason I have decided to purchase a bakelite bulk film loader to prepare my own rolls of 10-12 pictures each thus avoiding waste and reducing costs in case the camera is not 100% fit for usage.
