Kiev 88, 88 CM
My dream has always been of having a nice Hasselblad Camera. However, its outrageous price was a serious barrier at the beginning of my career.
As soon as I discovered the "Russian Hasselblads" I was able to get them directly from the Arsenal Factory as one of my brothers was often in Kiev for work reasons. I also got some nice vintage brochures of the Factory products. As we all know, the Factory no longer exists and camera production has unfortunately ceased. Manufacturing equipment has also apparently been scrapped and this is a serious pity.
ARAX photo is still in the business and Mr. Vartayan has always been a pleasure to make busines with.
I remember the night I got my 88 CM : I started dry testing it and, after a few cautious film rewind, the camera got completely blocked. I started swearing and I had the bad idea to fiddle a bit with the rewind crank. As a result I had to sent it to ARAX for repair.
My Kiev cameras are: Kiev 88, Kiev 88 CM, Kiev 60 (Pentax 6x6 clone), Kiev 19 (Nikon clone), Kiev 35 (minox clone).
